Jan is an entrepreneur at heart and has spent his professional career in tech, internet, and digital publishing.
His focus is on electronic business, information management, as well as online software products sitting between B2C and B2B, and digital publishing. He was also a lecturer at the Computer Science department, University of Cologne, and as a result he enjoys engaging with professional audiences.
After working as an advisor for a member of the supervisory board of SAP, he started Mendeley (together with two co-founders), which received several million dollars in investment, grew to 50+ employees and more than 2 million users, and was acquired by Elsevier in April 2013.
He is now responsible for running and further growing Mendeley, and for executing on its vision of building a global research collaboration platform.
