Jonathan Sobczyk

Jonny studied PPE at the University of Durham. He then joined the 2008 cohort of Teach First and taught at a challenging school in Tower Hamlets. Jonny left the classroom to found an educational social enterprise,The Brilliant Club, with Simon Coyle in 2011. The Brilliant Club exists to increase fair access to highly selective universities and employs over 150 PhD students to work in more than a hundred schools, delivering programmes of university style learning. Jonny was named in the ‘Top 10 Young UK Social Entrepreneurs’ in 2012, listed in The Observer’s ‘Britain’s 50 New Radicals‘ and recently short-listed for The Sunday Times ‘Social Enterprise of the Year’ competition. Jonny was also listed in Social Enterprise UK’s ‘Top 5 Start Up Companies of 2012′ and The BRilliant Club was listed in SMARTA’s top 100 Small UK Companies of 2013. Jonny has also written for the Guardian and the Telegraph.
