Mark is founder and Executive Director of social Investment firm Chelwood Capital, which advises social enterprises seeking to access the capital markets. He is also Director of Ashoka UK, the network of leading social entrepreneurs, where he is working with Ashoka Fellows on a number of projects raising investment funds for social causes. Examples include Fair Finance, a renowned micro-‐finance lender serving low income communities in London, and ‘Solar for All’, a worldwide initiative led by a coalition of foundations using social investment to accelerate the uptake of affordable solar energy in developing countries. Mark is a former project finance executive of Deutsche Bank and has 14 years experience in corporate and development finance. During that time he has helped raise more than $8bn to finance energy, water, sanitation and infrastructure projects around the world. Mark graduated from Exeter College, Oxford University with a first class BA Hons degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics in 1996. He has since lived and worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo and London, where he is now based.
